For over a decade, Trilight Entertainment has pushed to bring the story of the 1986 Swift Current Broncos to the big screen. Its purpose is to bring this important piece of history to life, giving it the justice it deserves and a chance to tell the unique stories of all involved. The pitch has been rejected by funders, believed to be a film and genre that doesn’t have an audience. We believe they’re wrong, and that the players, fans and community deserve to tell their story with the passion, emotion and representation a film like this will offer.
Featuring a group of young players who grow together as superstars in the hockey world, experience a traumatic event, rise to overcome it and make the playoffs that same year holds all the characteristics of an impactful film. These powerful moments in history have the characters, stories and guts to be a film for everyone. The resilience of the human spirit is in all of us, and we are taking this to our audience.
